OK ive asked this before but got confused,

I have a BENQ G2420hd and need to get a calibration kit for it, looking at spending around £100, whats the best one to get, the Huey Pro looks a good contender at the moment.

Thanks Guys

I also use Data Color Spyder 3 Pro and am happy with it.

Personally I prefer to disconnect mine completely, I calibrate my monitor because I want it in a constant state, the changing according to ambient light seems a bit gimmicky for me.

Fwiw I use a spyder 3 pro too, there's a new version out, but have seen a few deals on the spyder 3, which unless you have an iPhone/iPad may be worth going for.

The main improvement on the new ones seems to be the ability to calibrate iOS devices.

Hi can you use one of these for a laptop or is it better to get a monitor

Yes you can use it with a laptop, however laptop screens tend to be much lower quality and the colour changes depending on viewing angle. So the best bet is an external monitor, I would still advise getting both monitors calibrated in this case anyway though.

Ahh. Well the Spyder is different. You only attach the hardware to the monitor when you actually calibrate. Other than that, it sits in a cradle and monitors ambient light.

That's how the Huey pro works :)

Would you recoment the Huey Pro then??

To be honest they both do the same. This question comes up all the time and people just recommend the one that they have. If either of them didn't do the job then it would be all over the internet! Just buy whichever is at a decent price and does what you want.

I bought the new spyder 4 elite yesterday. I just couldn't get things right on my dell 30". It was frustrating me that I'd spent so much on a monitor and it looked wrong. So, I splashed out. It was a doddle to do. Sure you could get away with the lesser options if money is an issue. Elite was £170.

Monitor looks great now and will do my work ones too on Monday. As well as some friends' gear.

One of the points to note is if comparing a picture on a monitor to a hard copy from your printer is the monitor is backlite. This can make the hard copy print a bit darker, just something to watch out for and may need a bit of allowance/adjustment to compensate.

The systems where there is a printer and monitor calibrator combined are really good and one allowed a scanner to be calibrated to although can't remember which it was now.
