Hi all

Having just upgraded to a new PC that is running Windows 8.1 I have found that my old solution for Monitor Calibration will not work with Windows 8 so I am looking for some cost effective recommendations for some new hardware.

My old hardware is the Colorvision Spyder2 so the obvious first choice would be the Spyder4 but as many years have past since I last looked into this I was wondering if there is anything better available these days.

Interestingly the Print Profiler that cam in the set still works with their latest software but but the monitor one will only work with their version 2 software, so at least I can still profile my printer.

Anyone got any recommendations.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

It has to be either the spyder 4 pro or i1 display pro.

I know that dell monitors support hardware calibration through i1 display pro. So if you have those then that's he right one for u. Otherwise they all change the output of the display card. Which as far as I understand it, it is a compromise.

Color Munki Design. That will be an all in one replacement for monitor and print calibration.

If you're happy with your current print profiling, then the Xrite i1 Display Pro would be my choice for monitor calibration.

I started with spyder2express and changed to Spyder4Pro about one year ago due to a new monitor with LED-backlight and Wide Gamut. Works fine so far.

I think at the end it's a great step calibrating with such a hardware calibrator.
