The AV cable on my second monitor has given up the ghost , I am using a borrowed VGA cable so I need to replace the duff one.
I have VGA and DVI outputs spare on the PC and HDMI ,DVI and VGA inputs on the monitor so I have a choice of what new cable to buy

VGA>VGA
DVI>DVI
DVI>HDMI

Any ideas , there is no great difference in price but which is better from a performance standpoint, I am not noticing any great difference between the old ( bust) DVI>DVI and its VGA replacement.

DVI to DVI is the obvious choice, but DVI to HDMI would be OK too. I wouldn't buy VGA because if you want to repurpose the cable later then it won't fit anything - DVI is going the same way too.

I agree with Toni - go for a new DVI to DVI.
VGA is the worst option as it converts the digital signal from your video card to analogue then back to digital in your monitor.

I've just found a spare DVI cable. PM me your address and I'll post it to you.

Thank you for your very kind offer but I had bought one today before I read your message and it would be greedy of me to accept yours when one day someone else may be in need of one.

Once again many thanks for the offer

Chris
