Hi All

I am looking for a new lens for my Nikon D70 (soon to be D200/300 early next year). I will admit I am new to this hobby. I bought the D70 years ago and have only just had enough free time to use it 'properly' and understand how it works. I am new to photography not just digital or SLR.

I would love either the 70-200 2.8 or the 80-200 2.8, but they look like they really need a pod. I like the idea of the speed and the reviews are excellent, but something like the 18-200 looks like you could sling it around your neck and go for a walk with the family. The other 2 look like tripod or no go.

Any views/ suggestions would be very welcome.

Cheers

Hi

Thanks.:)

How would the 70-300VR fit the bill? I fancy the extra zoom.

I will probably get the 180 2.8 or 70-200 2.8 later, but I really need:nuts:a D300!

Cheers

I've used a 70-200 f2.8 (thanks leeP :)) without a tripod, it's fairly heavy but it's perfectly useable without a pod, and I'd assume the 80-200 would be the same tbh.

Same would go for the 18-200 I'd say :)
I have the 80-200mm f:2.8 AF-D which doesn't have a tripod mount. Because of this it's not really that practical to mount on a tripod or monopod because the weight is far too far forward for the camera's tripod mounting. I quite happily handhold it though, even without VR, and it's a lovely sharp lens.

The 70-300mm vr is extremely mobile. Its a good lens for the money too.

Kev.
