Hi

Any one with Three mobile, what is their service like especially data?

Thanks

I've been with three for years. Data coverage is pretty brilliant to be honest. They do keep trying to squeeze the contracts but if you can get a good one, I don't think you will be unhappy. It even works in south west Scotland now. I'm in Manchester and it's 4G goodness everywhere I go (3G in Scotland)

Up in the Highlands, there's no other provider can touch them for coverage.

Hi

Was with 3 for years and was pleased with them - no one could match them for price / deals available, left them a few years ago as Tesco (O2) were offering a better deal for cheaper price.

I've had to speak with Tesco (and 3 previously) about the tariff etc and I must say Tesco is superb customer service, 3 was awful...

Thanks, I am thinking of getting their current £18 SIM deal which gives 600 mins and 30gb data which can be used for tethering.

Don't use that much data but would be a good option.

My £18 sim only 200mins, unlimited SMS and unlimited data (30gb tethering) is due for renewal. Had a look around and nobody can touch it for price.

Coverage is fine for me in this area.

Use the coverage checker on their site to see what yours is like.

Phoned Three a few times (sales and customer service) and had no major issues other than cs being in India it seems.

I'm on 11.99 200 mins, 2gb data unlimited texts, suits me since I have no friends to call :)

[emoji16], I don't use the minutes much, but want the data and the option to teether.

Will be calling EE in the morning to get the PAC code.

Thank you all for the fast replies. [emoji106]

Pretty good, and I'm grandfathered into an older contract that I don't think's available anymore - £14/month for unlimited minutes, texts and data with the 30Gb tethering allowance.

I like 3 - Used to be on o2, good for calls but rubbish for 3g when not in a big town. Only 3 or EE get 4G in my village and 3 edges it.

I can tether my 3 phone, have to most days as my work phone is on vodaphone and gets almost no data coverage up here.

/edit - tiny amounts of data when tethered for me mind you.

I was with three but got fed up of having no signal in so many places. They're fairly reliable when there is signal. Giffgaff were ok for a bit but the download speeds are rubbish. Moved to plusnet which is on EE and that's got much better connectivity. I can stream music from my phone without it stopping all the time.

Three always did I backwards. Data was awesome everywhere, but you had no chance of making a voice call.

I got booted off the old one plan which was totally unlimited yet still get unlimited data with 8g tethered. Ive learned to manage without tethering, but I binned my iPad as a result.

Like you say, no one can get near the prices.

The MSE plusnet deal was unlimited calls & texts and 4GB of data for £10 a month. Less than I was paying giffgaff.

Three are awesome. But as mentioned their Customer Service department are rubbish. I'd not hesitate in recommending them though.

I've been with Three for several years. Their 3G coverage is excellent - except, ironically, at my house which is less than 1 mile from Three's UK headquarters. But I can use their free app to make and receive calls via my home Wi-Fi, so that's workable. Their coverage away from my home is better than the other networks I and my wife have used.

The only other slightly irritating thing is that their account management app insists on a 3G/4G connection and refuses to use Wi-Fi, so I can't use it at home. But I can access most if not all of its functionality from their website, so that's not a major problem either.

When I last renewed my contract (2 or 3 months ago) they gave me unlimited calls, texts and data, and 30GB tethering, for £9 per month.

I got a super deal from iD 200 minutes ,5000 texts and 2gb for the princely sum of £5 a month ,never yet had a problem and that includes showing someone my Flickr pics in the middle of the Dee estuary marshes

Thank you all for the replies. Yesterday I tested the data speeds at home and in the office, compared to O2, I was getting better speeds at work.

I have a three PAYG SIM so will top it up and test next week to see if it is worth the move.

Thanks

I use three primarily because of the feel at home facility. I travel a lot and the ability to use my minutes / data as if in the UK is excellent. US, Australia, most of Europe and a few unexpected ones (eg Indonesia) are all great options for me.

Maybe someone can tell me if you don,t mind me jumping on your thread.:)
I am with EE,i only use my mobile on PAYG for emergencies in the car & some texts.
My credit is almost run down & i have just ordered a PAYG sim from 3,will i lose all my contact numbers & also all of my apps if i change over.

Depends on if the numbers are on the sim or phone?

Which phone do you have?

I have the Sony Experia E4

Copy all your contacts to your Google account and they'll be there whenever you sign in again with the new SIM.

Thanks for that, what about all my apps,i also have a 32GB sd card in my phone.

Most apps will be unaffected*. Your memory card will be unaffected. The only thing you'll be changing is your SIM (and your phone number unless you're arranging for that to be transferred**).

(the phone is unlocked isn't it? - i.e. not tied to your current provider)

* except possibly any app that requires your phone number for verification/identification if you're not transferring numbers which may need security settings altered to the new number or the new number verified (things like banking apps). General apps like Whatsapp that use your phone number for identification initially but switch to an account based system in use generally have no problems with multiple SIM cards or switching cards. Not knowing which apps you have installed makes definitively answering this question impossible.

** if your number is relatively clean (i.e. you don't get much in the way of spam texts or junk pone calls) I'd recommend transferring it and keeping it whether you need to or not.

Ah,yes i will be transferring my phone number as well once i arrange to get a PAC code:)My phone is not locked to a provider.

Just make sure 3 works where ever you are likely to need them - don't believe what the website tells you. They sound very cost effective, but coverage in the north of Oxfordshire is poor, though clearly that's not the case in other parts.

I am in East Ayrshire Scotland & it looks pretty good,so hopefully i will be making the right move.:)

I suppose if it is crap i can move again.:):D

I've used all of the networks and i would say that vodafone and o2 are worst, followed by ee with three the best - three also seem to offer better deals as well - i pay 11 pounds for 2gb data 200 mins and unlimited texts and they do quite good roaming deals when travelling

Yep,three have good deals.:banana::)

Cheers for that.:D

Maybe, but I think it depends where you live. My wife is in SW Scotland and all she can get is a weak, fluttering, GPRS signal on Vodafone and O2. None of the other networks offer coverage. Nearest town is 3 miles away and is a bit better, but no 3G or 4G for 20 miles.

Well it depends where you are going to be using it really.

I was with them for a couple of years but I live in Kent and work in London so coverage was fine.

Equally I have also been with EE and my partner is with Vodafone, again no issues with coverage.

When we did a walk through the Brecon Beacons however, neither of us had signal for parts of it so it really depends on where you plan to be using the phone.

Moved over to the three mobile network today.:)
