MKII lenses

With Canon, EF-S lenses are crop body only lenses but anything that's just an EF lens will work. With Sigma DC lenses are crop lenses. So that Canon 60mm macro, Sigma 17-70 and 10-20 won't work on a full frame body.

bang goes the plan for the full frame 5D then, hmmmmm maybe a 7D, seems a shame since its such a nice camera but the severe vignetting im reading about is slightly putting me off to be honest

Do you mean vignetting when using a crop lens on a full frame body? It's more than just vignetting! You'll get more black than you do photo!

You'd definitely need to re-think your lens collection if you went FF.

Remeber that when you change from Crop to FF you lose the advantage of the 1.6x on your lenses.

Your 70-200 becomes just that whereas on a 7d it effectively is a 116 to 320mm

I went to a 5D2 from my 40D, jeez what an eye opener but I only had a 10-22 efs so just had to replace it with the better 17-40L anyway.

The 7D has had some great reports and from those I know who have them they are not dissapointed.

OK so now i'm worried my lenses wont work right on a MKII for some reason due to the full frame or something?

I have

Canon 60mm f/2.8
Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4
Sigma 70-200 f/2.8
Sigma 10-20 f/2.8

if someone could just clear this up I would appreciate it :)

What's a Sigma 10-20 f/2.8?

I'd sell the lenses, go 5D MKII buy an EF 24-104 f/4.0L a Canon 16-35mm, keep the sigma 70-200mm. The difference will be shocking.

Not all of us have been that enamoured with it... I had two of the damned things and whilst I'll agree that it's an incredible camera in many ways, I got to the stage where I couldn't trust it to do what I wanted it to. In the end, I did what I should have done in the first place and got a 5DMKII.

If you go for a 7D, take a CF card to a shop and try it out at ALL ISO settings...

Fair do's Spritflier but my 5d2 has been back to Canon twice. Seems it's working sweet now but gave me a few extra grey hairs :D

ps

knackered rear screen, and too many hot pixels.

Yours is the first that I have read of a knackered 5D2. On the other hand, it seems every second day someone complains about the 7D. To be honest, it seems to me like a pile of horse pucky.

No I haven't, hands up admitted there, but after all the bad things I hear about a 7D I would not buy one.

I have seen example pictures of ISO 100 and 200 and yes the noise was visible... no thank you!

Hi Chris,

I have a friend who's a wedding photographer in Shropshire and his 5DMKII (4 months old) died just before the start of a wedding on Saturday. Needless to say, he's absolutely livid with Canon! Fortunately, he had a back-up body so there was no harm done apart from to his sanity! :)

I don't discount the fact that there are an awful lot of people out there who are really happy with their 7D's but with me it was a case of twice bitten, third time shy! ;)
