I find no motivation or desire to take pictures in the mist, fog or cold. Indeed I actively avoid it because I cannot stand these conditions. I like the heat and sun.
Do what feels right for you. The best pictures come from being out in places you like in conditions you like. Best advice I can give is to thy own self be true. Don't force yourself into doing stuff you wouldn't do just to take pictures you think other folk will like. Forge your own path.
Why post something so defeatist when the OP was specifically asking for motivation! I say get that warm coat on, give it a whirl, then make your mind up if you ever want to do it again. We get so much cold, misty weather, it seems a shame not to come to terms with it, not to mention the mental and physical health benefits of getting your ar$3 off the sofa. And it feels so good to come back into the warm again and download your efforts with a nice hot cup of [insert favourite beverage].
A few years ago I forced myself motivation wise to photograph certain genres and continuingly trying to motivate myself killed the hobby for me. It's only in the last 12 months that i've found my passion again by finding what motivates me and it's not forced. So, I agree with what steve says, do what feels right for youWhy post something so defeatist when the OP was specifically asking for motivation! I say get that warm coat on, give it a whirl, then make your mind up if you ever want to do it again. Ah well, we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I find it hard to get motivated on a hot, dry, dusty August day, but my love of IR photography saves the day there!See I prefer to focus my time and energy into conditions and places I like. I don't think it's defeatist - just realistic. The OP mentioned finding plenty of motivation whilst in Greece and well it is lovely and hot.
And I hate warm drinksNothing beats a nice cold beverge after a hot walk in the sun
Agree though - it is great to get off the couch and do a 5-10mi walk every day - and I do - I just don't bother taking the camera with me as I have NO desire to shoot in such abysmal conditions. I don't feel the need, or want, to take pictures year round. I just take them when I want.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! A little difficult in Norfolk, but perhaps I can leg it up a church tower or a windmill. See. I'm getting enthused now!leg it up a hill or mountain and enjoy the views, it can be utterly spectacular.
