I have a few old collapsible backgrounds which won't lay flat, they seem to want to stick up at one corner.

Anyone managed to fix this? It's not the end of the world but feels like it should be easy to fix.

The steel band has twisted, it's an easy fix to twist it back.

Thank you both, I've not had any luck with it though.

When flat it's not a corner sticking up it's one of the long sides bending inward rather than outward, I've checked the frame and it doesn't feel like it's twisted anywhere. I spent some time twisting the hell out of the corners but it didn't seem to help (my fingers sting a little now though!).

If you know the manufacturer or the company that sold it, ask them for advice?

Well it's not the corner that's twisted, but the band is obviously twisted, and it's exactly the same process to straighten it. Grab the twisted bit and twist it back straight.

Just googled this exact problem and it led me to good ol' TP!

I get that the band has turned inside out and long edges are now bending inwards but what is the technique to get it to flip back?

Just twist it till it returns to shape

We.ve got one with the steel "hoop?" broken (due to rough handling). I've suggested post 12 Scottishmonkey suggestion but my oppo doesn't seem very keen on the idea... he's the one with welding kit. At those prices it's worth a go before replacing it IMHO.
