It's in excellent condition and, whilst the 50mm is a Zuiko lens, there's also a couple of Miranda lenses (70-200 f4.5-5.6 and a 24mm f2.8). Are these lenses any good?

I've got a couple of film cameras but this is the first "kit" I've had ad neither of those are in anywhere near as good nick as the OM10 stuff is so I'm tempting to give it a go.

Can't see your pic. I've only used a 28mm 2.8 of theirs but it seemed pretty good to me.

ETA, picture showing fine now.

Miranda lenses were competitive in the 60's, comparable pretty much with Canon/Nikon.
I think maybe they made lenses for Cosina, or the other way round I dunno, but it all went a bit naff when the Miranda name was sold on in the 70's/80's to Dixons or Curry's or somebody, they had cheap lenses made and branded them as Miranda.
Only one way to be sure though...:)

edit....what's that thing bottom right btw, looks like it has a plastic hotshoe top to it..

My Mirranda 28mm is pretty soft, just replaced it with a Zuiko one. I don't know how sharp the 24mm is but they seem to get decent money on ebay...

That must have been a standard kit sold by Dixons or the like, change 24 for 28 and my inherited OM10 kit is same.

Could well be.

Miranda was Dixons own label.

Ah, I never knew that and I worked for Dixons for 12 years! Although I suspect it was a little before my time.

I worked in Dixons repair arm Dixserve for several years and yes ... it was a long time ago

:D

The Dixons thing is not the full story, Miranda when it was called the Miranda camera company made cameras, its lenses were made by Soligor, 1953-1978.
As likely as not, the Soligor made Miranda branded lenses are reasonable bits of gear, Dixons didn't fux it up till the early 80's.

Thanks for the links, I suspect these ones are of the Dixons variety but I'll have a play and see what comes forth.

I've got the Miranda 24 somewhere, OM fit, I remember it wasn't great, suffered from softness and viginetting and didn't use it much, preferring my Tamron ADII 28/2.8.

I'm now going to have to look up in the loft to see if I can find it.

Shown stuck on my beaten up OM40..

Found this dude in the same box, I knew I had one but it's been a while since it's seen the light of day, time to rectify that.

I've never owned a Miranda, but I knew people who did and I used a couple of them back in the early 70s. They were good cameras. Miranda never manufactured their own lenses, as far as I know, and I think this was outsourced to Soligor. They were reasonable but never in the same class as Nikon, Canon or Minolta.
