Who can give me tips or share experiences with this camera?

If you own and use this camera or are familiar with it:
What films (manufacturer, speed, b/w or color...) do you use and why?
Which battery do you use and how has it performed?
What are its strengths and weaknesses?
How and for what have you used it?
Have you had any technical problems with the Minox EC?
Have you ever repaired it yourself or had it repaired?

If you don't use the camera but would consider it an option:
What are the disadvantages of taking photos with this camera in your opinion?
Are there any specific obstacles that would deter you?

Feel free to share any thoughts you may have about this camera.

Here I have written down everything that came to mind and is not in the user manual:

I have a Golden Power PX27 6v alkaline battery which I remove when not using the EC plus an adapter that takes 4x LR43 and another adapter which I can't remember which size button cells it takes.

The 1st EC I bought had a fault that didn't always (well only occasionally did) engage the internal "on" switch - the copper coloured bit in the photo below. There is a raised piece of plastic on the inside of the camera cover slip that should push in the on switch.

The camera dealer initially sent me a couple of other cover slips to try but this didn't work so I was sent a fully serviced/repaired replacement and this one works fine. The dealer said that there is only one UK person who can carry out EC repairs.

It's handy to have the fully electronic auto everything Minox sometimes. Once you've set the film speed dial it is simply point and shoot. The EC is f5.6 compared to f3.5 for my iiis (aka A) or my B.

On a couple of occasions I've used the EC when out with friends of an evening with flash cubes. On 2 occasions the flash cubes worked well. On the third less so but this could be down to the flash cubes being at least years 40 old or possibly due to the operator having consumed a significant numbers of pints. A dedicated fully electronic flash unit was made but when they come up they are v expensive.

Yes I like the EC. As per all my Minox sub minis I cut and reload the film cassettes and dev/scan myself otherwise it would be v expensive. Occasionally I wet print a Minox neg. The other advantage of the EC over my mechanical Minox's is it has an interlock that only winds on after a shutter press.

Overall if you were starting with Minox sub minis and only chose one I would go for a B simply because it is more versatile and a "better" camera.

Thank you for the tips and reviews on the Minox EC, especially regarding the flash cubes and batteries.

Maybe check out a video I made on it a little while ago.

Hope you enjoy it.
I like your video so much that I embedded it in my article. If you don't want that, please let me know and I'll take it out again. If you have a link to Mostly Vintage Cameras, I would add that as well.
