Minolta 7000 no info in viewfinder?

Hi All - I was recently given this camera from a friend - I mentioned I used to own one back in the day!
Anyway everything seems to be working fine apart from the display inside the viewfinder - I can get by without it but it is a bit of a pain. Would this be an easy fix or should I just suffer?
One other thing - how do I stop looking at the back of the bloody thing after I take a photo ;-) ??

The only time I don't do that is shooting MF lol (cos its an alb monster that I can't lift that high)

Turn off or cover your lcd screen on the other kit .......that way you'll get used to not chimping

As for the display in the viewfinder .....If it don't work, then simply shoot without it.

Sounds BER. Minolta 7000's go for £10 on ebay. Got myself one last year to see whether it was worth all the mid 80's hype.

I'd imagine that any fix would be considerably more expensive than just buying another body on eBay.

This was quite a common problem with the 7000.
It was normally the mirror that reflected the info coming unstuck.
There are two mirrors that reflect the info to the correct place in the viewfinder. Have a look inside and see if anything is adrift.
There is probably a repair manual about somewhere that details how to do it, I'll see if I can find anything on-line.

I assume you mean the red light indicator for shutter speed......If it's that it's not worth repairing.
But Just a guess maybe the batteries are low?

The other week I took my Chinon CE memetron to take some shots and the meter was giving me silly readings, so I guessed the aperture and shutter speed and everything sounded ok...when I got back and checked the 6v battery it was reading 5.9v h'mm not far out...anyway put another 6v battery in (which read 6.1v) and the meter is now perfect.
