I was just reading an advert for a little 10x telescope ( no i don't want one ) and it clearly says MILITARY-GRADE MAGNIFICATION.

what on earth does that mean :)

Rob.

A strong whiff of bovine excrement perhaps?

I suspect in this case MILITARY GRADE MAGNIFICATION = MARKETING GRADE MISINFORMATION ;)

When I saw the subject I thought I was going to see/read about the Raptor camera pod used on the Tornado.

Now that has/had military grade magnification......as in AFAIK it was only ever a military bit of kit :)

Perhaps it's the quality of magnification. maybe it's more pugnacious, or works under cover to sabotage?

Marketing codswallop.

It means it’s sold by a Chinese brand with unsophisticated marketing!
No doubt it is also accompanied by a lot of badly photoshopped montage photos with lots of labelling and a lengthy product description with a load of bullet points.
