Seems to me the guy who wrote that review is lacking in some important knowledge. He says " Note that the only thing you can't do is save the RAW file as another format (such as JPEG or TIFF), which does seem to be a pretty serious shortcoming." He seems to think RAW is an image format when it's not, for you to be able to save in an image format the software would have to convert it (as in RAW conversion). That would make it M$ RAW conversion software not M$ RAW viewer :)

He he. He does rather seem to be missing the point doesn't he. :D

It's nice to see Microsoft providng utilities like this though.

Shame it doesn't work on my RAW files :(

Bummer! It looks like just Canon and Nikon RAW files are supported.

you can click the edit button on the image when you view it, or hit ctrl E to open it in PS automatically(or it does here anyway)

my work here is done....

I downloaded it and installed now I can't find it :(

Nah for some reason the first install didn't complete besodes which I have my raw converter set to launch on double click :) sorted now.

Sorry for dredging up an old post, but has anyone got the thumbnail views to work with an EOS 400D?

I've installed it, but I still get no thumbnails shown for .CR2 files?

I have the same problem. I don't think it supports the 400D as they were realease at around the same time as each other. I'm guessing the viewer will get updates as new cameras are released  . I'm only guessing though

Thanks for your prompt reply - that was my guess too, since it hasn't been updated for over a year :(

I was hoping I'd missed something though...:bang:

Have you checked receltly for any updates? I must admit I haven't looked but MS may have released a newer version

Yeah, I checked before posting :)

Being new round here I wanted to double check I wasn't being stupid! But I'll let you know when/if they do.

Anyone know if this will work with Vista?
