Thanks in advance guys

I am writing numerous (i.e don't even want to think about the number right now) cover letters to accompany my C.V. Now, I just need to know how I can put an address at the top of the letter which is changeable without changing the cursors/any other paragraphing and without editing any spacing.

Hope this makes sense

Kind regards

sarah

Mail merge! The help files is quite good at talking you through. You need to set up a file with a table in detailing all recipients address etc, then markers in your covering letter where these items are to go.

There is a step by step macro that will guide you through the steps.

Tools > Mail merge.

You will need to set up a data source for the addresses first.

done that - a zillion times...:'(

be VERY careful when you type your "base" letter that it is "gender" proof

then setup your address/contact name/salutation database VERY careful with recipients name/title/position/ Dear....

so you dont get "Dear Mr Sally Smith..................:(

anyway ....."Bon chance"..

Ah all done...although a bit tedious and confusing???

Thanks guys :)

You're not planning on using a standard cover letter for all applications are you? (or worse, combining a stock letter with a stock cv).

You're running the risk of making life very easy for the first person to read your application.
