Hi all,

I have stumbled across a company on the net called Microglobe who are a photography dealership. Anyone used them? they seem to be fairly cheap, I was wondering what experience people had of them.

Thanks

Rob

I've used them 3 times over the last 4 years - best to ring them to order as their website isn't always up-to-date on stock levels, but goods tend to arrive next day even if bought over the web

They have a surprisingly small shop in London that's just crammed with stuff

I'd give them a big

Nice one DD!

Not knowing london all that well, how easy its it to find thier shop?

I am popping up to London today, getting dragged up for my GF to pick up her bridesmaids dress. I reckon in return I am owed a few camera shops, especially as I am taking time off work!!

The only thing about them is that they don't supply a UK warranty. It's 99% grey market imports and they say that you can get the item repaired under warranty by sending it back to their store instead of to Nikon.

If you're in the area, there are some great photography stores around, try going into the 3 on Museum Street. One is a big Canon/Nikon store, then there's Aperture UK who deal in second hand gear and the third is a cross between a photography store and an antiques dealer, with some beautiful old cameras, it's sort of opposite Aperture, but I don't remember the name of it. The guys in Aperture will know which one I mean.

Oh, and the cafe next to Aperture (not the one in it, the one at the end of the street) does great pasta.

Bought some binoculars and my new sigma 17-70 from them, next day, would recommend.

Bought an SB600 and a 70-300mm VR, although i picked up from the shop while i was in London, so never had any problems, although i do believe there stock is grey imports, somebody please correct if I'm wrong.

EDIT, didn't read Blapto's post, so yes i guess i was right

I've bought a couple of things from them, never had any problems with them and their aftersales service is very good

Yeah used them too, their delivery is second to none.
Ordered a grip for my Nikon & a UV filter at 12pm Thursday, was in my hands by 1115 next day!
Cant fault em for price or delivery.

i bought my 70-300 sigma lens from them back in teh day, next day and all that. Good service.

Their prices for the things I just looked at seemed pretty average, and if they are imports then the prices are not good at all.

Worth a phone call to see if what you are buying is UK designated or not... not worth paying a premium for something that should be commanding 15-20% less than retail.
