Micro nikkor?

Hi, when a lens is "micro nikkor". Say 35 or 55mm, what are the benefits?

Can you just get closer and have a sharper image?

The term is used by Nikon to denote one of its macro lenses.

As Chris said. "Micro" is Nikon's designation for a macro lens, for close ups of small subjects like insects, coins etc, just to give you an idea. You can use these ones for general photography too.
