Well not exactly - no guns involved and it included me but it was funny as I arrived at a local mini roundabout 3 cars were all sitting at the give way lines at the end of there prospective roads just looking at each other left and right but no one moving......I saw this for a couple of seconds as I rolled up to my give way, I of course just negotiated the roundabout after the person to my right was motionless and seemed to have no intention of moving off - looking to her right and to me ( her left) for some sort of idea of what she should do? I took the opportunity and negotiated the junction - and thought my movement would spark the "Give Way to the right rule" and all would be as it should, but no in my mirror I see them all still there. I drove out of sight of the junction and so its a possibility they may well be there Monday Morning when I use the junction again....

It begs the question though as to what on earth is going on ?

Further on my journey I encounter a chap in a car doing 18 / 20 mph in a 60 NSL section of my morning run no lights on and windows all misted up, I overtook at about 40 mph fast enough for road conditions and visibility but the person behind me just sat behind as did all the others, in a sheep like manor. I am no motoring god ao anything and I just make safe progress in normal circumstances, but something is changing with the behaviour of motorists these days, just cant put my finger on it....some sort of mass lack of confidence or something?

I now drive and expect the ridiculous to be the norm.......

There are quite a few mini roundabouts near my house and I noticed that normally one of the junctions will have a sold stop line and the others dotted stop lines. The solid line is normally on what would be considered the subordinate road at the junction were the roundabout not there. To me this gives some form of priority to the traffic on the main road, but not everyone sees it like that - as you have noticed!.

On your second point - nothing surprises me now.

We breed the roundabouts here for the rest of the country
(well it feels like it anyway :D )
That plus concrete cows (Yes they are expanding ;) )
But I digress, the Mexican stand off is quite common here too,
especially on the "Mini" versions
And then everyone decides to go at once :D

It is :D

as my customers used to say when i was driving the taxi ,"that car nearly hit you then" standard reply WHAT CAR :runaway:

I once nearly have a lovely 3 way accidental on once of those bloody things after all three of us gave way and then at the same time all decided to accept the others giving way  could have made it into Internet hall of stupid if that had have happened :P

One of the major joys of driving Landies is that you get RoW at any mini roundabout from all other traffic except vans and trucks! It's also noticeable that I get let out of turnings more often than executive German saloons do.

And driving a LWB Defender I don't HAVE to notice others.............................
But sometimes actually making it round a mini roundabout without three pointing it can take a bit of forward planning. Fortunately there aren't too many round here!

The answer is a Series with a V8 fitted! Leave it in 2WD and it'll turn in a 176" (or 218"!) diameter circle!!! There are a few bends up on the moor that need a three pointer to get round in an SWB, especially since it was a 2 1/4 Diesel.

Not that old, thankfully. A TD3 with PAS of a sort, though still with a big turning circle. I did once drive the old TD I used to have under tow with no power. That was an experience, especially when the guy towing decided to pull into a garage and swing hard round by the air compressor..............

It is awful on A82. It is full of incompetent drivers, many of them local elderly, many - people from towns that have no idea how to drive in countryside. If you go to US even old pensioners drive quite fast, and like their car mods, etc. What on earth is going on here is beyond understanding.

Its a regression of some sort. A lack of conviction on mass........for overtaking and roundabout negotiation
