My sister in laws memory card has photos on it and when put it in the card reader i can see them on my pc , But when she puts it back in her camera it does not show any photos , its blank , can anybody tell me what might be wrong and how we can sort it so pics on the card show on the camera .

Thanks .:)

Was the memory card formatted on a different camera or on a PC? It's quite possible that the photos are not in the folder where the camera expects to find them.

Are they being imported onto the computer, i know with certain software there are checkboxes that say delete after import or something along those lines!

As far as i know all that she has done is put them on to her pc , she expected them to still be on her card, which they were when i looked at them on my pc ,they just dont show up on the camera.

At a guess, the photos weren't taken oln the camera she's trying to view them on or have been editted on a computer before being saved back onto the card.

Hi, Yes they were taken on the same camera, and no there has been no editing done on them , the card was just put in a card reader , images transfered to pc then card put back into the camera , since then no images can be seen on the camera . :shake:

Looks to me as what happened is on the computer after the card was inserted she hit the - import pictures and videos to computer- instead of copy pictures to a folder on my computer. So in effect she has transferred the pictures off the card onto the computer

What I do is go to -open files to view via using windows explorer- open then copy/paste the file onto the computer under pictures.

To restore back onto card

Insert the card back into the computer -go to the pictures (highlight them all if necessary if not already in a file) on the computer and right click with the mouse. A dropdown list comes up with" send to ", click on this and on the next drop down list, it should say the card/file name or whatever about second from bottom. you should then be able to send the pictures back to the card

The photos are still on the card as i tried the card on my pc , this is why it seems so strange !

So should i tell her to erase them from her card and copy them back on , should that work ?

Is her camera reading the correct file by any chance? she would have to look into the menu setup to see. There could be a possibility the camera is now reading the wrong file , but not knowing the particular camera I can't really help. Realspeed

Bit hard to diagnose 3rd hand :)

My guess is there is a corruption of the card. Your computer can cope with the error and see the files but the camera can't.

If all the images are safely on a computer then format the card in the camera and copy the files back onto the card using the computer. make sure the folder you put the files in on the card is one created by the camera where it expects to find them.
