Memory Card Problem...

So i got my camera today, and i used my 16GB sandisk 10. I took some test shots and took the card out, put it into laptop card reader, used cut to transfer pictures to computer. Then in rush i forgot to do SAFE REMOVE and i just took the card out. After i put it back into camera i was able to take 1-2 shots then i wanted to try multi shooting and after taken few fast ones camera sayd cant access memory card.

Computer sees that "something" is there but cant access or format, cant format in camera aswell.

Did i screw up the memory card? ... help
 
If you have transfered the pictures just format it. This is good practice every time you put the card back in the camera anyway.
 
Does not allow format. Comes up with error: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error
 
Sorry i missed that line you did mention that.
 
Try rebooting the computer, then see if the card is detected and can be formatted again.
Equally, do you have access to another camera to use it for reformatting?
 
Have tryed reboot - shutdown options... not working. No other camera - computer available.
Under my computer i see : Removable Disk E and thats all. Trough computer management after waiting a 5-10 minutes i see Disk Drive E @ 14.84GB Unallocated , when i try to format does not allow.

Bin the card and just buy new?

No, don't bin it. If all else fails, contact Sandisk and see if they can help. I seem to remember they offer a good warranty
 
Wander into the centre of town and either try to persuade your nearest camera shop to format it or try to spot someone with another camera and ask if they will.

Card came from Gizzmo Heaven , at Amazon.

I today opened the package, and used first time. I was to buy DSLR at summer but other things came up so delayed the purchase. And now am clueless what happened with it.

Anyone ordered from "Mymemory.co.uk"? They have these Sandisk 16GB Ultra 30mb class 10 cards two for 15£ at sale at this moment.

I have sent an email to gizzmo heaven, and also submitted an report at amazon.

I placed an order at mymemory for the dual pack of 16GB card for 15£.
But found an offer on currys/pcworld same deal dual pack of 16GB cards for 19£, so i think ill be collecting from currys a set aswell as i really want to use my new DSLR. Shame... so long waited and now sitting on shelf due no memory... grrrrr
 
You haven't locked the memory card with the lock switch on the side have you?

Thank you for the heads up on the SDHC cards, purchased the twin pack this afternoon.
 
Sandisk have a gazzillion year warranty or something don't they?
 
If a gazillion is a 5 with no zeroes after it, yes!
 
Well at least gizzmoheaven is offering me full refund or exchange...
 
To both new members above (rickypo and albert_eines) - where are you getting file recovery from in a thread discussing inability to format the memory card?
The OP wasn't concerned about photo recovery, he was trying to get his card formatted so the camera could see the full capacity again.

It's spam.
 
Now I'm intrigued! Who was it spamming for? If it was supposed to be GH, all it's done for me is put me off using them - sounds like they supplied a fake (or duff) card in the hope that the customer wouldn't bother chasing a refund.

The other companies it mentions are reputable household names and none seem to be favoured.

Of course, there could be a missing post or 2 but the numbers are consecutive or is that a standard feature?

You can't see it via a browser, only via an iPad App, but the two accounts in question were using their sig block to spam and also create link backs.

Sig blocks only show up after 5 or so posts, so often they don't get spotted. Another favourite method is to embed a 1px image in each post - also with a link back. Again that shows up via the App but not via a browser.
