Hi all

What surprise or present did you get for your 50th Birthday ?

A Test kit from the NHS with three cardboard paddles in it...

As I am 108 was too long ago.

Seriously the (our) NHS gave me a fantastic 50th birthday present

My Life! After 105 days in hospital following 4 Cardiac Arrests - I had a triple by pass and walked out of hospital on my own 2 feet and not in a box. That was in time for me to celebrate my 50th Birthday, which the Cardiac Team were not hopeful I would 3 months earlier.

Count yourself lucky we have the NHS despite the continual barrage of sh**e our political morons spout.

It was just under a year ago, but to be honest I can't remember. I'm not really one for celebrating my own birthdays. Last birthday I celebrated I was 21.

Nothing to do with the 50th birthday thread really.. I'd just like to congratulate you on your 50th present Steve..I had a new life given to me in May this year after a quad bypass..God bless the NHS
Look after yourself ;)

Very pleased that all OK with you! Keep up the exercise and diet regime - it does work (though I managed to break my leg badly last November... last operation soon). :-(

Thats when being aged 50+ starts to show!

Far too long ago to remember.
But I doubt it was anything special.

I think that might be a Scotland-only thing Hugh, but needs must ......

Scotland thing or not, if the good people North of Adrian's wall decide to liberate themselves my "she whio drops cameras" has decided to move back home (her maternal grandfather arrived on his first full trip from his Edinburgh to Kings X as a trainee steam train driver, fell in love with London and moved his family South)..... I hope sincerely she settles in "home" whdn she gets there........

Me - not sure where I am off to after she sets off! I hope ths exchange rate will be faviurable :-P

You look ten years younger without the beard!

I got a naughty weekend in St Andrews :)

Similar to Steve, although a bit earlier!

This time last year, I was "looking forward" to having my scalp peeled down over my forehead prior to a triangle being cut out of my skull to allow access to remove a Meningioma... The actual op was on 6/9/2012, so in 2days time I shall celebrate my 1st "re-birthday", although I celebrated my 50th birthday in July. TBH, I reckon the rebirthday means more to me than the birthday, although looking back on teens and twenties, I'm surprised I reached 30 let alone 50!!!

Once again, thanks to the NHS, especially the neurosurgical department down at Plymouth Derriford, Moorgate ward.

Feeling like a rant today, as i cannot understand why people cannot be bothered to leave feedback when all has went through fine in a sale area...

Back to the 50th, Yep i remeber mine very well. My mother inlaw walked into our home, handed me a brown papper bag and said " sorry i nearly forgot, but its the thought that counts.
I opened the brown paper bag, presented with two not one, small containers of deoderent. then i read on the lable, buy one get one free.
Yep she was right its the thought that counts, now i know where i ma in the pecking order and with that thought she is off the christmas card list.

I kept dropping hints about having a holiday in Mull and wouldn't it be good if we made it my birthday present at the same time  Considering that the MuchBeloved isn't interested in photography or birdwatching (feather sort). he caved in so we had a fab week over there

He's never forgiven me but hey, it was worth it.
