Meike 550 d battery grip advice please

Received grip today,bit of advice. When I install 6 aa batteries meter on camera shows full. I only have one canon battery when installed in grip on it's own. Meter level shows half full ,is this just because only one battery is installed rather than two. As when I put canon battery in camera without grip it shows as full. Can anyone test this for me please.

Mine doesn't do that, with 1 canon battery in it shows full if its fully charged. I haven't tried it with 6 AA batteries in though.

Agreed. If the battery is fully charged then it should show full whether in the grip or the camera. Sounds as if there is a dodgy contact in the grip or between the grip and the camera.
