hi, can anyone recommend a medium format scanner i was looking at the epson v700?

The V700 is excellent. I have the V600 which is about half the price. It's good enough :)

Just hope that if you buy Epson it doesn't go wrong! :)
 
The V700 is good enough for my purposes with MF.

Probably your best option if you're buying new unless you can find a Nikon Coolscan 9000 for sale and have £2.8K spare.

For the purposes of pointless comparison, I reckon with 645 it'll easily beat my 5D for the detail I can get out of the shot. :)

The Canon CanoScan 9000 comes with a carrier for MF (2 1/4" square) slides. A steady hand, craft knife and black card should enable you to make one for negs.

The 8800F canoscan came with carriers for 120 film, as does the 9000F - though the 120 carrier is a bit crepe, and the ones from betterscanning (link ^^^ above) are much better.
