Evening all, just wondering if anyone can advise me on this place. I'm planning on doing a little video shoot of my car for a Uni project, and I want to use the fancy buildings in Media City that look pretty after dark. I just want to get a few cliche shots of slow-moving 'city feel' stuff, if you know what I mean.

I've only visited the place once, a few months back, but that was on foot during the day. Does anyone know what the access is like for cars? I remember there being a couple of roads in there but I'm not sure if there are any restrictions for vehicles etc.

Also, what's the best time to go? Ideally I'd want nobody to be walking around, so later on obviously. Any photos anyone has would be helpful, I tried to have a look on Streetview but it doesn't seem updated.

Cheers!

There is a photo gallery on the MediaCity website which should help with getting an idea of where you might want to take pictures of/from.

The good news is that they don't expect you to get a permit to take photographs outside but they do ask that you don't interfere with events that may be taking place.

I was approached by a security guy who said that I need a permit to use Media City as a background for photos! Ah well, managed to get one or two shots.

Security guard was talking tosh. There was a group of TPers went and spent a whole afternoon and evening there taking pictures.

My take on it was this.

We asked the head of security for permission, he said as long as we didn't cause a nuisance there was no problem.

In his words " after all it is a Media centre "

My shot was pointing the other way but we took loads round the media centre. It may have been the addition of the car that was a problem ?

I've been a few times and have been approached by security guards pretty much every time. Through these interactions Ive gathered that you can take as many photos as you want as long as they are for personal use.. Its if you're taking them for commercial reasons that you need a permit. Which probably explains the issue they had with the car.. thinking it was for commercial purposes rather than personal.
