So... i think ive managed to talk myself into a 15" Retina MBP. Ive settled on the 2.6Ghz model but am unsure whether to opt for the base 8gb RAM or to upgrade to the 16Gb version.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of running aperture, lightroom and PS on the 8Gb version? To be fair i run these on a 13" MBP running 8Gb and on an iMac 27" running 16Gb and dont notice too much difference

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cheers Neil, i think thats my general school of thought as well

I have the 15" retina Mac with 8g and don't have any problem running cs6 photomechanic and aperture, but if you have the money i would go for the upgrade as you cant increase it in the future. Also remember it is quad core

Wow, how did you manage to go from raising the question to having your hands on a customised-to-order rMPB all within four hours?!!

I went to the apple store in Milton Keynes

Quite simple really.... I called to ask if they stock the 16 gb unit.... They do (only in conjunction with the upgraded processor and HD), I drove over and bought it.

If you look on the online store when you get to pick your options it gives you 3 'popular configurations' it appears some of these are also stocked in store rather than customised to order :)
