Maybe I should avoid LCD protector

Bought a Fuji XT1 recently and as usual, new toy and wanted to protect every part of the camera. So I bought myself a LCD screen protector (glass I believe). Try to install it last night and I mess it up on first try. Took it off and tried it again, perfect this time except one dust got tripped on the sticky side. I took it off again and try to remove the dust and then it got worse and worse. At the end I took it off and didn't even bother put it back on because the protector is so mess up.

I remember I try to install one on my Nikon D3 and I mess up and shutter the protector.

I guess I better off without one and not intended to paid another £8 for one lol.

I guess the Fuji XT1 LCD is pretty tough like the Nikon D3?
 
Well, I think most screens these days are pretty tough. However, I'm chicken and prefer not to risk an expensive camera on an £8 "investment". Others might have tested this theory out!
 
Well the screen protector is still in one piece but I don't think cleaning is an option or too hard to clean now with dust and finger print on the sticky inside bit ....... my D3 LCD is tough even with shooting outdoor sports and is still in pefect condition. I would imagine XT1 LCD is not as tough as the Nikon D3.
 
I dont know about Fuji's but Sony's come with a protector already mounted in the past. I'm afraid with items like this you must work methodically, clean and efficiently. If not get someone else to do it.

If you don't intend to sell it on very soon, the LCD is better without a protective film on it.
I have one camera with an LCD-protector on and the screen is not as easy to read as the naked screens : most of which are not scratched.
 
I've never been very good at applying sticky screen protectors so I use ExpertShield which have no adhesive and can be washed and re-applied.

You're not alone, did that the other day with my d500 then realised it's been 'nose and finger greased' for a month anyway without harm, it's tough enough.
 
I have no intention to sell the Fuji. Just bought it recently and it was a planned purchase with purpose in mind. More then happy with the performance atm. I think I will use the LCD without protector, can't be bother buying another one. If I'm bored I may try to clean the current one and reapply. Try using a glasses cloth to clean the sticky part is the worse decision ever. It makes things 10x worse. The more I tried to clean it the more mess I create on the protector.
 
I put screen protectors on a couple of my previous cameras and they are the only things that have ever broken, slight knock and they
cracked, my present cameras have had far worse and survived without a mark
 
I see Expert Shield mentioned here and they seem only to be available from the US. Is there a good make I can get from here that won’t leave any mess on the screen when I remove it?
