The Echo is waging a campaign to rescue a festival of sorts:

Well done them :clap::clap::clap:

Yeah seems like a solution. Still should have been at Sefton Park.

The Echo's plans for events in smaller venues is laudable, but I think the Festival has grown beyond being just that, and the smaller venues could get swamped, and in doing so become dangerous. A lot of people have been planning trips for a very long time, and it may be too late for some people to change their plans so there will still be a number of people in the city.

A friend said they could set up stages in some of the parks outside the city centre, but it is called the Matthew St Festival, that is where most people will be. The council couldn't organise transport for a few thousand people to the venues for the HUB and Tall Ships Festivals outside of the city centre over recent months (as you well know Pete ;)), so there is no way they could handle moving possibly 30,000 + people about.

Its a half cocked solution though. I'm really irritated about this. Matthew St Festival was a great place for families and kids as well. It won't be this year, with the whole thing pushed into clubs and bars. The sheer incompetence of the Culture Company beggars belief. I hope this results in a great big kick up their respective backsides.

It looks as thought this may be back on. Of sorts. I'm still not impressed. I'm not happy with the view that says - well, something's better than nothing - its a massive **** up
