Photoshoot with my friends kids... Dark blue backdrop. I had to go into Photoshop and extend the left hand side to balance the subject in the middle of the shot.
No matter what I do I can't seem to make the backdrop seamless as it appears to be very slightly off with more black at the top or more blue... I don't mind the very slight variatioj in black to blue as it's so sublte on the eye it all looks black, it's when there is a sharp bridge from black to blue like in this photo.. Black is what I was going for anyway, the dark blue was all I had as a backdrop.
I copied the right hand side with marquee tool, copy and pasted new layer, moved the new layer over and slightly stretch to fit.. Is there a more professional way to do this?

Personally I would just use Content Aware Fill. (NOTE: I have over exposed the image so that you can see the effect)

Their is a new feature in PS Beta called harmonise, I haven't used it myself but seen it used on YouTube for adding shadows etc, and it looks pretty good, you could try playing around with it.

Which version of photoshop do you have? Generative Fill does an amazing job at this sort of thing.

Old school... ;)
i don't have this newer fancy Gen Fill and I am strongly against it, I know content aware fill is like a beta version of Gen Fill but I just feel Ai and gen Fill has taken the Photo out of the Graphy, it's now more.or less CAD (computer Aided Design) which is not photography, but that's not the conversation here so I will leave it there.

Thanks, content fill was ok and done the job but not gracefully... But I think we got away with it.. Thanks.

For just the color issue I would use a hue/saturation layer to remove the blue and darken it slightly. And then use layer blending/masking to remove the effect from the hair (blend if red).
I made the image much lighter so that it is more apparent what the edit did.

That doesn't help with the banding/transition issue though. For that, what I would probably do is select the desired colored area and transform/stretch it (mask/blend as necessary); this gives you a consistent color/texture. Sometimes it is better to copy the area to a new layer before applying the transform; makes it easier to blend/mask if necessary (I do by default). You can also combine both the transform and the hue saturation (transform left, combined right).

FWIW, content aware fill is really just automated clone stamping; I find it seldom works particularly well.
Can't say there is any single way to deal with these issues; each situation is different (and best avoided to start with if possible)
