Just heard it on the Beeb 2pm news bulletin.....................hopefully their emergency action 'plan' will mean all lives safe and secured.

BBC News reports all animals accounted for, and no reports of any injuries.

ETA: Now saying officers believe the fire is out.

Just looking on the news now, trying to find out more. Just hoping animals and humans, are all OK.

Reports are now saying they lost some of their smaller residents in the fire.
There was a $50k fund-raiser being held by the zoo, but links I found to it on Just Giving were dead, so they may have reached their target already.

I don’t get that, surely they have bigger things to worry about than setting up a crowdfunding this quickly. Unless it wasn’t them, but a third party on thier behalf.

They must be insured. Why do they suddenly need £50k from us.

OK

Although if I saw a reasonable answer to Tom's reasonable question I might be persuaded to change my mind.
If you look at the page you will see their reasoning behind the funding page.

People asked how they could help and donate, so they set up a way for people to? I'm sure an administrator in the offices probably isn't needed to help with clean-up/ rescues efforts and takes about 2 minutes to set up.

Is there a problem with the roofing materials/design ? The fire seems to have spread very quickly.

Has anyone ever had any insurance pay out fast enough to prevent any problems? I reckon crowdfunding will get them available cash when it's needed rather than late to repay any loans that may need to be taken out to cover immediate expenses.
