Not sure what yet, never done anything like this before, so it will be a good learning experience..
I might even take my S95 off auto - maybe ;)
Why have I entered - to learn, try new things, and I like the idea of a weekly theme, as that takes some of the indecision out of the process.

My level of experience - novice, and Im thinking that I may be the only person in the world that has never opened photoshop - and doubt I will for the moment either, it looks too complicated, Im staying natural for now..

Not the best start, but I had 3 ideas, this one, a barge on the river and a homeless person sleeping in a subway

The barge idea didn't work as I don't carry a tripod on my ride to work and it was too dark..
I just didn't have the balls to snap someone I don't know, so that was the gritty photo out of the way as well.

i liked this one because of the reflections, but it was pushing what my camera could do as even at F2, it still wanted a shutter speed of 1 sec..

Hiya Martin,

Firstly, welcome to TP, you are in the right place to learn about photography. There are so many members here with knowledge and experience that will be able to help you on your new venture.

This is the first time I am doing a 52 (and I'm also doing a personal 365 alongside this too), so have a busy year ahead.

Good luck with the Photo52 and I look forward to seeing your photos and the progress in your learning experience.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Martin, that's a very atmospheric image. The reflections on the water are great.

The half a boat on the right is a bit distracting.

Regarding PP, I would just grab an old copy of Photoshops Elements off Amazon for less than £20 and just play around. You can't do any harm and some very basic processing (eg crop, lighten/darken) can add a lot to a pic.
