Non UK Marbella/Mijas/Malaga

Against my better judgement we've been persuaded to go off with a bunch of friends to a villa somewhere near Marbella for a week. Having spent a week in the area many years ago I'm somewhat dreading it as it's not at all my usual choice of spot for a break. I'm probably not going to take my DSLR and lenses, just a Fuji X10 and maybe a gorillapod so its not going to be a photography-focused trip - I'm sure I'd not get given peace to do that.

So I'm looking for some advice on places to visit in the area that have something other than the usual Spanish Costas type fodder of beaches, boats and bloated tourists. I think I might do a bit of street photography but if anyone has some ideas please let me know.

I'd recommend the Biopark in Fuengirola, one of my favorite wildlife parks with everything from Lemurs to Komodo dragons, in amazing settings
Also highly recommend the Butterfly park in Benaldamena.
