I'm pretty new to the forum and have played 'own gunner' paintball for about 3 years and have played tourney pball for nearly two.

I was just wondered if many others here have their own kit and play regularly? If so do you play in a team at all?

Probably know i do from that there thread over there, but tada, here i am :D

ditto on the playing just for fun, did think about going to tourny level, but decided at 16 the money commitment/travel/organising other lazy 16 year olds was to much on top of cadets and school :p

As for kit, Vforce grills, SP1, eggy2/reloader 2, 3k psi tank with nxe cover, then lots of random other bits and bobs :)

I been a few times - knocked through a thousand paintballs in a day :O bit xpensive

not got my own kit but it was fun last time

Most paint I've done in a day was at a training session where it I ended up feeling broken for about two days. 7,500 paint. But owning your own equipment does enable you to buy paint from proper paintball shops at a bit less than from rental sites where they need to cover overheads of the equipment they lend to you as well as site costs, insurance etc.

We used to get the stuff for about 2-2.5p a ball at tournaments which is pretty much wholesale price. It goes to show you how the sites can give away "free" paintballing days to punters when they can sell the paint at 10-12p a ball!
I've not played much for years but I do still have my Minimag in the attic and I used to play for Team Highlander, scotlands national team.
Admittedly we were better known for our drinking ability than our paintball but we were international!

Paint tends to work out about between 1.25p to 1.75p per ball nowadays depending on what grade you buy and from where.

Blimey a minimag! And the National Scots team! We are indeed in the prescence of a legend!

Back in the mi-80s when Skirmish moved from .62 to .68 I played semi-pro for The Preachers at the Who Dares Wins/National Paintball Fields by Sutton Coldfield Cross (now a McDonalds I believe). Never had my own gear, but then we were supplied with loan stuff as part of the deal (short barrel Silver Stirling for me).

The site had two teams - the other one, The Ravens, were European Skirmish Paintball champions one year.

I haven't played for years but started off with a Tippman Pro-Am. Swapped the barrel from the standard to the massive Smart Parts for this gun. That alone used to scare people as the barrel was another 4 inches longer.

Then moved onto a Automag - what a gun

This was my favourite and had various configs over the years but it all came to a rest in about 2002. Loved playing it and took part in several 'War of the Roses' at Selby and a couple of North v South, just north of Birmingham. That was some day, playing alongside pro teams and guys who regularly went to the states. It was something like 250 a side that day over a large area. The games today seem to protective with body armour available

The best part was showing the bruises to your mates back at work. Proved you'd taken part.

Bruises! Bruises!!! Let me tell you this boy! I got hit 25 times in the space of about 2 seconds in a game (last man left) Limped off the field dribbling paint all the way. Tink that was at one of the Mayhem Masters.
