The title of the post is a little confusing, but I was wondering whether there were any cameras out there that had this function that I wish existed. I shoot in Single Point AF mode, ie, I use the thumb pad on my Nikon D610 to move the cursor to the position I want the camera to focus. However, at a fast moving wedding, I often don't have time to move the cursor quick enough. I don't like using full Auto Focus (letting the camera decide where to position the focus point), but was wondering if there was any way to let the camera choose the point, but then 'manually override it' if necessary.

So, in other words, I'd have full AF on, the camera would 'guess' right 70% of the time or whatever, and those times it gets it wrong, I could use the thumb pad to correct the focus point. Make sense?! Does any camera have this?

Not quite answering your post but back button focus is what I use. Press and hold until focused on whatever you need them let go and it stays fixed whilst you take your shots. Works for me..

Are you using AF-S lenses? Could you not manually over ride the focus if the full AF has chosen the wrong point? Unless I'm missing something here.

Both of the above, but I couldn't imagine why I'd let the camera choose the focus point in a (fast moving?) wedding , it's got no idea what I want to shoot.

When shooting sports, I have focus point expansion, whereby the camera will track when my subject has moved from the selected focus point, that's useful for fast moving stuff.

I've shot a lot of weddings, I'd never describe them as 'fast moving'.;)
