As you know I really like film cameras and that kind of equipment but to be honest I really need the digital way of photography.

So, I started my love with film because 1 year ago I used for the first time one Leica lens on my Canon 400D (at that time).

Now I have plenty of lenses to use on my Canon 5D and I have to say: It's great! Better prices, amazing performance and that really cool feeling...

So I'm showing you just some snapshots I did yesteraday with friends.

Hope I can post this here as we are talking about the manual focus lenses, etc...

Did you tweak with a s/w or are they as produced by the camera
 
They are almost 100% straight from the camera. I just converted them to JPG, a little levels adjustment (what we see in camera LCD is not the same in the computer) and I took some saturation (don't like to see the green too "greenish")

The bokeh, definition, etc...Straight from the camera. My adjustments are usually only in the color rendition. Usually I don't like the colors too saturated.
 
Cool! I picked up a Pentacon 135mm f2.8 for a few pounds the other day. As soon as I get an m42-canon adapter it's going on the 450d
 
Very nice, I'm always tempted to get a few. Can I ask where you find them? Is it mostly ebay or do some local shops have them sometimes?
 
I already had many many manual focus lenses. I sold almost all of them and now I only have a few Carl Zeiss lenses from Contax (I use in my Contax RTSIII) that I use on Canon 5D and I have now the Leica Vario-Elmar-R 28-70mm.

You have them on *bay and look for private sales etc...

This 85mm is not easy to find. I already had the Helios 40-2 85mm f/1.5. A sovietic lens that I loved too.
 
I still have my Nikkors from the film days, and I've had some very good results on my 30D, but my eyes struggle with MF on a crop VF. FF would make a big difference but is just out of the question for the moment.
 
I used them on 400D with AF confirmation chip on the adaptor. It helps a lot.

Now I still use that kind of adaptor on 5D. Never failed with me.
 
Great shots and I'm sure it'll encourage others to get their old manual lenses out - I know I have a couple of Nikon ones somewhere...
 
The *bay prices are going up in the last months. People are looking for this kind of lenses because some of them are cheaper, well built and with great performance.

In my kind of photography I don't feel the need of AF so this lenses are the ones I'd like to use.
 
Could anyone suggest a good manual macro lens? As all macro should be manual focus anyway this could be perfect for a guy on a budget like me :D
 
Try Yashica ML 55mm f/2.8 or f/4 Macro.

I already had the f/4 version and I liked it.

For 1:1 try to find Kiron 105mm f/2.8 Macro (not easy to find).

I find this intresting as your EXIF has this
# Exposure Time = 1/80 second
# Lens F-Number / F-Stop = ƒ/2
# Exposure Program = manual control (1)
# ISO Speed Ratings = 50
# Original Date/Time = 2009:11:24 17:53:16
# Digitization Date/Time = 2009:11:24 17:53:16
# Metering Mode = spot (3)
# Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
# Focal Length = 50 mm
Oh and I am not 100% sure about it posed here as its not film?
 
The EXIF allways shows f/2 and 50mm with this adaptors.

Only the new ones could be programed to the focal lenght we want and with the aperture settings.


Then I said in the first post that I hope this could be posted here because we are talking about manual lenses and the pictures are only some examples.
This is so genuine as when we shot film and then we turn that film in a digital way to show here, after scanning it...
