I saw and bought a manfrotto tripod head off the internet advertised like new never used (private seller) selling well under new price, I found out why. on the up/down head movement there was a "loose" spot and it clicked, could even hear it though the earphones, so time to strip it down for a look see . The problem seemed to be on the up/down tension screw so removed that but not causing the issue. So removed the large Manfrotto sign cap on the side and behind bolt, ah me thinks it is loose, but no it needed futher stripdown. So removed that bolt and pulled the two halves apart. Inside are a lot of raise fixed circular rings. so spreyed them with all purpose copper grease and reassembled. Now no "loose" spot and a it is mow a smooth movement..
So as manfrotto sell parts maybe a good idea to see if they are selling the part you need before scrapping
