Hi everyone,

Could anyone shed some light on my Manfrotto please. I've had it a while and always been intrigued by an etching / print on one leg.

It says Diamond Jubilee 1936-1996 KJP. Limited edition, 017/402.

Does anyone know who KJP are / were and why they embossed 402 Manfrotto 055c tripods to mark this event?

I've googled and come up with nothing.

Thanks
andy

I wonder if it was a present from a wife to her husband or something? Though, that doesn't explain the 017/402 part.

KJP Calumet. Probably to celebrate their anniversary!

From the Calumet website:
"In 1939, Kenneth Becker formed Calumet Manufacturing Company in Chicago. Originally, he sold sporting goods and just a few cameras through the store. Eventually, Calumet began to manufacture stainless steel developing trays and other darkroom equipment."

Thanks all. Very interesting. I wonder then, whether this will have come from the Sates or Europe?

KJP is Keith Johnson Photographic - big UK pro dealership back in the day.

I don't suppose Manfrotto had anything to do with it, prolly just a staff memento.

Thanks, hoppy. Just done some more digging and it looks like you've got it. here's a quote i've found from a post by Saracen on the Digital Darkroom back in 2004...
"Another vote here for the 055c and 141RC head. I got mine some years ago (1996 I think) when KJP were having their Silver Jubilee and gave away the carrying bag and a Manafroto monopod with the 055c/141RC."
