Manfrotto ball head Q2 to Q5 or 6 upgrade?

I've asked Manfrotto spares the same question and now awaiting a reply. Don't know their turn around times so thought I would ask here also in case they take an age to reply and the answer is simple and someone knows!

I hope this reads as well as it makes sense in my head when I read it back!

I have a Manfrotto MH054MO-Q2 054 that is great but uses the Q2 QR plates. Don't get me wrong, they're great but I want an L bracket and a Q2 L bracket is over £100 and looks terrible.

I have this:

I could just buy it 'as is' but one I don't have that sort of cash at the mo and two, it's the same as what I have now bar a different type of QR plate. The ball head looks the same for all 3, it's just the top bit that looks different. I see there is a big screw under where the QR plate goes to release the top of the head from the ball and socket so I'm guessing it can be swapped over?

Checked on Manfrotto Spares and its there also for £78! Bit pricey for not a lot of metal and doesn't even include the QR plate

Stand down everyone, cheaper to buy a new (used) ball head!

How about replacing the whole clamp and q/r plate with a Swiss Arca type?

It's a Manfrotto sized Q2 Q/R plate with the female part of the Arca Swiss on top. Didn't fancy that as to me that's like stacking Q/R plates on top of one another so not the tidiest or secure of things.

Ideally I need another brands version of a Manfrotto MSQ6 that's reasonable cost wise!

Lots of different clamp options and wide range of L Plates too, Amazon or Ebay are your friend
