Has anyone tested both, i can buy the Manfrotto legs for the same price as the Redsnapper with pan & tilt head.
I would prefer the sturdier option as both recieve good reviews, 24 hours to make decision.

What redsnapper legs are you after?

283 legs.

I've had both.

When assembled I really would not be able to rate one above the other in the sturdiness stakes. They are both very good - the manfrotto is let down just a little by the centre column mount, the redsnapper is let down just a little by the plastic centre column head.

Actual build quality appears at first use the same - although after using my redsnapper a bit I found the legs came loose quite frequently and needed tightening up. This coupled with the fact I find twist lock legs slow and annoying is why I ended up selling the redsnapper on.

Although to be fair I also sold the manfrotto because the centre column mount annoyed me.

Thanks it looks like it will go to the toss of a coin, been reading-following threads for months now and still cant make up my mind.

If the twist lock legs don't bother you (ie you don't do much photography where you move the tripod around a lot - they are slow compared to the frotto locks) then I would personally recommend you punt for the redsnapper 283 legs and also have a look at the redsnapper ballhead.

WHy? Well the two pods have equal features and drawbacked but redsnapper are cheaper and you get a damn fine tripod bag. I forgot to mention that - the redsnapper tripod bag is truly and excellent product.

I can vouch for the redsnapper 283 legs + Pan Head (the bag is amazing although head has to be removed to fit it in the bag) Very sturdy not had issues with twist lock but its not used every day.

The frotto tripod i haven't experienced. But if the monopod i have from frotto then quality very good and strong nice locks too.

Have you looked at Giottos?

Thanks all.
