Manchester Airport

(DIdnt know where to put this so it is going here!!)

I want to go to manchester Airport on Thurdays to get some shots of the planes. Anyone got any advice where to go?? Will 300mm be OK??

There's an official viewing area signposted. Don't know if it's the best place for photography though.

i think it's j4 m56, slip road down to the island, right at the island go straight on through the traffic lights, first left, first right and your there.
you can see concorde there aswell. only a couple of quid to get in. cheap day out

It's £5 for a car and driver then £2 for each extra passenger.

300mm may be too long, depending on what you want. I'd take that and something like a 70 -200.

OH by the way the big stuff tends to fly early morning with the holiday charter flights taking up much of the afternoon slots

or you can go to the airport pub, same as before bottom fo slip road go right at the island
turn left at the traffic lights
follow the road all the way to a t junction
turn left to the island
take the first exit
follow the road to the next island
take the second exit
follow road for a few hundred yards and take the first right turn
follow to the pub on your left
it's a pay and display car park.

I went with a 300 it was fine. good place to go.. you can get food drink there as well.
