Not sure if this is in the right forum so please move it mods if its wrong.

Photoshop CS2 now takes ages to load and its all down to the fact that i have loads of plugins mostly freebies I've downloaded from the web. I've had a scan around with no success but has anyone come across a utility which will let me add in or remove plugins as and when I want to. I realise I can copy them out of the folder but wondered if there was a program that would do this?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Allan

I'm on my lappie which doesn't have PS, but I know with quark express I use at work there is an extension manager in one of the drop down menu's, where you can turn on/off extensions (plug ins)

have a scan around the menu's in PS, as I can't look myself. HTH

This would actually be a very handy thing to have, a plugin management tool. (as opposed to moving randomly named files out of folders).

So I'll be keeping an eye on this thread with interest.

I'm currently looking into which files I can *remove* from teh photoshop folder to make it simply quicker (filters and plugins etc),

This tip talks about installing plugins outside of the normal PS directories, but placing a shortcut to the plugin in the 'correct' plugin directory. Not tried it to see if it speeds up load time...

Plugin Commander might be worth a shot - freeware too

I've had a quick go with Plugin Commander Light - yes it can switch plugins on/off, but they wont disappear or re-appear in the menus until PS is bounced. Similary, I didnt see any memory advantage in disabling any plugins whilst PS was running.
So, not really sure of the advantage of a 'manager', the only real measure is memory usage and speed, neither of which were affected whilst PS was up.

Maybe the 'Pro' version will reap benefits? i dont fancy paying $50 to find out...
