Hi all,

I will leave the link to a film myself and photographer Bob Mitchell have just finished making. It is a timelapse film with a narrative. Bob documented the slate industry in north Wales shooting on large format then we pasted the images in former industrial sites, some 50ft high in underground mines!

The short film shows both the art installations as well as time lapse of the slate production process.

Please take a look, comment and share if you want.

Thanks in advance
Jonny

Glad I watched that, but if it's planned to screen it anywhere in Gwynedd get someone to go over the Welsh translations again, there's some room for improvement.

Thanks for watching and glad you like.

What were the problems with it? It was done by someone Welsh and it was done as a loose translation not translated exactly

Thats great, Fantastically done

I'm also a caver and have been down some of the North Wales mines, still alot on the to do list, but i don't get up there often.

I have some of that slate sitting on my dining table

Thanks,

It is a great area to explore and to bring back nice slate souveniers!

Saw this on aditnow, it is really nice and well produced, noticed cwmorthin and a maenofferen workshop in the video, it would have been nice to see some of the images up in situ as I spend a bit of time around Blaenau.

they are not souveniers in that way, placemats made from welsh slate, by a local retired 'slate man', but unfortunately they shop selling them has now closed.

That is what I meant also, not much to take from the quarries now! A friend who is retired who makes slate products. Place mats, bowls etc

Didn't like the soundtrack.. too dramatic, but some great camera work.

I absolutely loved the large format portraits. I think that would have been more poignant if it was just the portraits and stills though. The time lapse stuff has been seen too much now, and I'm not sure it added anything to the story that was being put across... that of the decline of the industry... the time lapse makes it look dynamic, and active... it doesn't have the reflective qualities those beautiful portraits do.

I enjoyed watching it.. thanks for posting

Music is always a tough one, some will like some wont!

If you want to see more of the portraits they can be seen at http://www.manmademountains.co.uk/

The origianl project was just to be stills, but I was brought on to capture the process of the pastings. Which time lapse would be the only way, especially in the underground ones. Then we thought by making a film more people would see the work. Appreciate getting constructive feedback like this though, thanks.

The odd incorrect word, phrasings a bit messy. Just needs a General tidy up.

I really enjoyed this - I'm not from north wales, but I have visited the area quite a bit and have photographed in the slate quarry at Dinorwic a few times. I liked the time lapse stuff, something I keep meaning to have a go at, but this has given me some good ideas for future visits.

From liverpool and have driven through the slate mountains. It's quite eerie going past all that history. In years to come what you have produced will become an education to some, well done some brilliant work
