Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner and want to start organising/sorting out my photos and I want to start making a portfolio but don't know where to start, what's best ie prints etc, any help and advice would be great.
Thanks
Marco

best advice I was given was to create a folder on the computer (always back it up as you will probably know) and start putting in about 20 images and as you progress add in better images and move others out do that you are always keeping up to date, it has helped me keep all my best images together. In term of hard copies I get mines printed at Loxleys and I have them in an A3 presentation folder. It's nice but thinking might be time for a change so will be interesting to see what others say. Everyone is different so go with what's best for you! x

Thanks Nicola!
Sounds like a good idea! :) as for hard copies, how many have you got in your presentation folder?

Anyone with ideas?
On hard copy, how many do you put into a presentation folder?
Where's best to print?

I reckon have enough photographs to create a decent amount of pages in your portfolio that'll showcase a variety of your work but there won't be so much that it'll bore those flicking thru it. Try to choose enough to perhaps have a small collection on one page & a few larger prints to be mounted on a page independently. Variety is always recommendable! Keep it eye-catching.

For actual prints, I'd recommend ordering from Photobox or going in-store to Jessops & ordering them on Matte/Lustre finish paper.

I have about 15 of my best images to show, I get them printed from Loxley Colour, the quality is fantastic and they are so helpful, wouldn't go anywhere else!

Also just a thought is to set up a Flickr account or a website, think nowadays people don't have the same time so if you have a website that you can just send a link to your work then that is always useful to? x

Thanks Ashley and Nicola, I need to get some more good shots then will make my portfolio :D x

As Nicola suggested, Flickr is an amazing way to promote your work. Best wishes!
