So my next project is to make a 4x5 pinhole camera. I have already bought a couple film holders off of Fleabay.

I get the basic of the distance of the film from the hole determining the focal length but what effect does the hole size have apart from the obvious f-stop and DoF.

Does a small hole produce more vignette?

About all you need to know here:

This is what I used when making my 4 x 5 pinhole cameras. I didn't have any film holders at that point so was holding direct positive paper in place with blu tack so my focal lengths were "approximate".
I think everything is approximate with a pinhole camera but that's part of the fun :)

@MrDrizz having made several pinholes over the years I eventually succumbed to buying one of these

Whilst making a pinhole is not too hard, making a decent shutter, especially one that can be operated at at faster speeds I found to be a bit more of a challenge

One of the benefits of DP paper is the long exposure allowing use of a highly technical shutter - a piece of electrical tape!

The eBay seller Sirch references is where I got my pre-made (non-shutter) pinholes from. I was v satisfied with the service and costs.

That's fantastic and now on my list for the next build/upgrade.
