...so not production volumes, just family presents. I've done this a couple of times before using Apple's "project" functionality, which IIRC was in iPhoto rather than Aperture that I normally use. Excellent results, but really quite expensive (£23 for one last year). Now iPhoto has gone (Aperture survives, if on life support), and Apple Photos I have not yet got to grips with.

Looking for one with a separate picture for each month, roughly A4 size image, hinge in the middle, calendar bit hanging below the picture. Any suggestions of companies worth exploring? Thanks

Had a look at vista print? Cheap as chips and good enough quality for stocking fillers

That looks good specially with the current 50% discount... Thanks

Snap fish are normally quite good too. We've just ordered our yearly one for about £15 they get cheaper the more you order too

Does anyone still actually use paper calendars? As a more modern alternative, would it be possible to create a DVD/CD or memory stick (which would be a reusable gift) with a selection of your photos as a screen saver programme? Your relatives could then enjoy your photos whenever they used their computers.

This is just a suggestion, so don't blame me if it all goes horribly wrong!

With me and the wife working funny hours and things for the kids we find a paper calendar quite an important thing to be honest. Just a useful place to keep track.

I've just made a 1st draft of my own. Got fed up of...
...shiny paper that you can't write on without a felt tip that someone always pinches
...pre-organised layouts (usually 1 per page)
...calendars that don't have things like bank holidays/ "days you're in trouble if you forget" on them (valentines, mothers/fathers day etc)
...not enough space to write things on assuming you can find a pen that works

So I downloaded a free 2017 calendar (Word doc), added the important text in type rather than my spider-scrawl, saved as pdf and created an A3 sheet in photoshop with the calendar in the bottom half. Saved each month and imported into LR. Used the Print module & Collections to create each page just how I want and tada!

Never one to do anything by halves I decided against a hole punch and some ribbon to tie it all off and went for a wire binding kit (which will come in handy for my college handouts so it's not totally wasted).

Not counting the cost of the wire binder, and the decent paper (my draft was on el-cheapo proofing paper and was "acceptable") it was very reasonable price wise. It's got the photos I want, where I want them, with everyone's birthdays, & anniversaries on there. And we can write on it in pencil, biro or felt tip!
