Major upgrade for Adobe CC?

Apparently, Adobe are making an announcement on 18th June. It looks like there's a major CC upgrade about to be released - I wonder what the new features are (and what the new price will be!).

Will we finally see a change from the £8.78 or will they use it to show what better value Creative Cloud poses over standalone options.

Check the '10 myths...' link to see what they think :D

I thought the comment that prices were unlikely to rise and more likely to fall noteworthy :)

I bought the CC Photography package because I wondered if they'd release a new Lightroom in the next 12 months. I wonder what they have in store.

Ah, I thought you meant there was some info on new features (the non-money variety :)). I agree a lower price would be noteworthy.

There will almost certainly a release a new edition of Lightroom in the next few months.
Adobe have also said that "Lightroom will continue to be available as a standalone product, available for purchase as an Electronic Software Download(ESD) or as a boxed product with a traditional perpetual license."
So you don't need to be a CC member to use Lightroom, any more than you need to be a member to use CS6.

I knew that they were going to continue the standalone versions, but I figured if I was going to upgrade to LR6 when it comes out anyway I could just as well get it as part of CC and have Photoshop as well. I'm just interested to see what they do in 12 months when my subscription expires regarding price.

Yes, the unknown long term cost is one reason I won't sign up for CC.
In fact, I just did the reverse and bought CS6, the first time I have ever owned Photoshop, although I've been using Lightroom for about 18 months.

How much did you pay for CS6 and how much of it do you use?

I got it from iSoftware who are half the price of Adobe (or Amazon).
I was a little dubious about using them but there were no problems.
They emailed me a download link and a serial number.
When run, the software automatically registers itself with Adobe (I already have an Adobe account, otherwise you have to set one up.)
Completely problem free.

As to how much I use it, it's early days yet and I have quite a lot to learn.

Here's a list of features that Adobe have seen fit to ditch in CC 2014 - https://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotcom/2014/04/photoshop-spring-cleaning.html#3rdpanels. No 3rd party extension panels (Flash). (n)

Not only that, they've managed to mess up the interface in CC 2014 - the font size for menus and panels is far too small. :(

Here's the difference - CC v14.2.1 is on the left, CC 2014 is on the right:

Read a little further and you'll see that they're just phasing out Flash for HTML5, which is a step in the right direction:

Extension Panels using Flash

Over the past year, we have worked with 3rd party developers to migrate their panels to HTML, which we introduced in Photoshop CC as the new model to create Extension Panels. This will be our ongoing solution for 3rd party panels:

“HTML5 opened our CC extension development to an incredible world of online resources – allowing us to create rich web integrated user experiences inside Adobe applications” - Sandra Voelker Zetta: A creativity workflow solutions company

Extension panels using HTML5 bring the power of the web to extension panels. Developers are now able to leverage the same tools they use to build web applications to build panels. HTML5 extension panels are faster and can be easily integrated with popular cloud service providers such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and others.

The Share-on-Behance feature in Photoshop CC and Adobe Layer Renamer are examples of an extension built with HTML5.

Yes, I know they are - I read the announcement in April - but it means that existing panels that haven't migrated to HTML, and any created with Configurator 4, don't work on CC 2014, which is a nuisance.

So much negativity about cc. :) Life is too short for all this negativity! :)

Personally I think cc is great. It has certainly opened up a quality product to a wider audience. More affordable than ever. :)

I'm not moaning about CC, only about CC 2014 which seems to be a backward step from CC 14.2 - the menu font is microscopic link .

Lots amd lots of other problems being reported, I'd hold off a while till it gets itself sorted out a bit.

I have Photoshop CS 5 and can't see myself upgrading to CC. Realistically are there any real killer new features for an amateur photographer like me would need in CC compared to CS5? I am not CC hater by the way, just weighing up if I really need to upgrade. If I hadn't forked out for Photoshop CS 5 and was going thinking of getting photoshop for £8.78 a month I would certainly get it.

There's a 'significant changes' list here - it'll give you the new features for each release after CS5.
