I'm crazy enough to want to take part in the photo52 as well as my 365 and 2 other themed 52 week projects I agreed to (thankfully one is theme optional).

I am a little behind, but I think I have a photo from my 365 that could fit last weeks theme. I will try and get a new shot for this week.

Are the doors staggered across from each other or are they perfect mirror images all the way along?

Week 2 - New

I thought long and hard and opted for this. I rarely wear make up and am rarely on the other side of the camera, so turned it on myself last night and dolled myself up a little (ok, a lot... for me, lol!) It is much harder than I thought to get the focus anywhere near right, so this is the best of a slightly fuzzy bunch!

Focus on your right eye is spot on IMHO - eyelashes look fantastic too.
Did you do any PP on your eyes ?

Nice one
Daniel.

The eyes look great, and I really like the mysterious atmosphere in the shot too. Nicely done

Amazing eyes  love the idea well done :) if you are ever up in Scotland I will gladly help out on the photo front :) you should come out from behind the camera more often ;)

Wow! One of my favorites for week 2. The focus on the eyes looks spot on to me. Having tried some self portraits recently I know how hard the focussing is.

A very atmospheric and grippng portrait. I feel I could just fall into those eyes.

If I'm beng picky, I'm not keen on the shape of the catchlights, and I would have liked a bit more detail on the skin.

Great pic.

Hiya,

Lovely photo and gorgeous eyes, although I have to agree with Patrick regards the catchlights. I don't really have much experience with portraits so can't really offer more than that.

I do however, think that your image would have worked well combined with my image. The mystical appeal in your eyes would have been the perfect finish to my pic (intended in a good way).

Look forward to seeing your week 3 pic.

Cheers

Dawn :)

seriously madhouse..i scrolled down to week 2 and was blown away by those eyes... for me.. sharp.. and they transmit something i can't quite put my finger on... love the darkness of the image

Thanks! I didn't do too much to my eyes actually, just lightened the iris a smidge

Awww, thanks! I probably will come out from behind the camera more. There is only so much my kids will put up with the mamarazzi!

Thanks! I wasn't keen on the shape of the catchlight either, I will keep it in mind for future attempts! Oh, I smoothed the skin a lot as am suffering a touch of winter eczema, the joys!

Thanks! I saw your week 2 pic and can see how combing the 2 might have worked, lol! I've got a provisional week 3 shot. Seems I should have set the bar that high for week 2, lol!

:D Thank-you

Marvellous eyes and the focus is spot on. Well done.

Many thanks! I'm glad it went down well

Week 3 - Free"style" Baby!!

This is my youngest boy, he's just 2. He is strong willed with a mind of his own. He was rocking the Bruce Willis vest and the hat was all him!

When I grow up I want to be a Skater Boi! by Madhouseof5, on Flickr

My own CC of this shot: I wish he had just glanced up at me. I don't mind the no eye contact, as he's my own child, but I am sure others won't feel the connection. I would have also liked a bit of rim light to separate the hat from the background a little, but these were literally just snapshots while we were playing on the bed.

Great photo what a cute little boy ..I like the way you managed to capture him its a brill pic and one for the album..well done

MH, don't mind the downward glance. i think its nice composed and well cropped to encompass the theme... almost an angelic pose..

nice shots, particularly the 2nd and 3rd one. If you want some CC it would have been great to get both eyes sharp in the new photo IMO :)

Love your three shots so far... for me the last one is a fab shot... and I understand your logic... but if I then try to forget it and then look at the pic... it does not say style to me... but its a fab pic! So ignore my thoughts... part of it is im so rubbish at thinking out the box!

WOW those eyes, they are great, the picture tells a great story, as for the catchlight I quite like it as its not the norm, like the picture, really impressed

Week 3, don't knock he's looking down, actually I think looking up maynot have given the same finished product, rather than being a look at me you've caught him deep in thought (trying to work out what will be his next task)

:plusone: Those eyes...

Cool Kiddy.. Imho only some eye contact would of improved that shot well done.

I love all three of you pictures so far, I've done an eye one like that with my daughter, but havet tried it as an SP yet. Your little boy looks super cute, and I actually like pictures that are captured rather than posed

#3 is great, he looks ssssoooo in concentration and I love the vest. It's just a bit to bright for me. Then again, I'm new to this;)

I agree, eye contact would also make a good photograph, especially if he just moved his eyes to give you a kind of "What you looking at mother" jind of expression.

Cheers.

Hi,

A lovely take on week 3 and such a stylish cute little lad too. Love the hat :)

I just realise that I didn't comment on your week 1 which was also a great take on the theme and love the way the image draws you down the corridor and the way the light reflects on the sides.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Another cracking portrait. The pose and expression are very charming and natural. I think the separation of hat from background is fine.

I'm stuggling to find anything I would change or improve in this pic. I guess it's slightly soft but TBH that suits the subject perfectly. No, it's perfect as it is.

If I could do portraits like this I would be well chuffed.

How exciting - love to get a new phone :D

Like the processing and lighting

Hiya,

Congrats on your new phone.

Like your image, especially with the box and phone being 'open'. The lighting and background work well.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Good pin sharp shot like it well done ...

Thank-you Sarah & Dawn!

This week was hard in every sense of the word, lack of time, lack of ideas. In the end, I'm afraid it is rather a sketchy link to hard. I went to the West Midland Safari park last weekend. I loved being able to see the big cats close up and not behind bars, but because they were allowed to roam around, windows had to be kept firmly shut. It was HARD to get shots that weren't soft all over from being shot through car windows. Plus I should imagine from the scars this chap had, he is a tough nut, lol!

What a lovely face well captured.

Simon

agree with michael, although a touch soft it doesn't detract from the image at all, a well captured pose although the bokeh at the top right is a little distracting, it's an overall great image

Hiya,

Well done on getting a good pic through the window, although as you have already pointed out as others have too, it is a bit soft. Maybe a bit of fill light and a tad sharpen might benefit the image.

Agree with Paul about the bokeh in the top right being a bit distracting, so maybe a slight crop could improve that.

He is a fine looking beast, although he looks a bit sad .... perhaps he is hungry, so a good job you had your car window closed :D

Cheers

Dawn :)

He is beautiful, so much nicer to see them like this instead of in small cages

well captured considering you had the window up
