Mad March is upon us... This has always been my busiest month.. I ahve 15 full adult football matches booked.. I have around 25 jobs in total booked ..and I ahvent even got my newspaper jobs yet.. they give me a few a week..... Over the years I ahve always been mega busy in March.... Lots of P-P games to play from earlier in yr... Lots of local leagues are coming to a close with cup finals and league titles at stake... winter months of december at least are quietest...

Anyone else shooting sports have an up down time.....

I've got 8 events booked so far, not all footbll with more to follow no doubt (I have two football free Saturdays at present)

As you say, its the backlog clearing from over the Christmas period plus cup finals starting

Always good to have them in the bag as it soons gets quiet once the season ends

yeagh apart from football in burton on sat afternoon... I ahve my first field hockey match this sat...my last ice hockey of season plus first american football of season.. thats all this weekend 1st and 2nd march :)

I need to get into more sports, I tend to stick to Football, Boxing, Cricket

Only one trip for me if my accreditation comes though....

Trouble is.. not a lot of money in other sports.. I can make a few quid if i choose the right boxing event... the rest I do for paper.. might pick up a few quid here and there on top..But if I wasnt doing for paper I wouldnt bother wiht anything else.. just football.. its the only one that pays...

NOTE: If someone specialises in another sport wiht there foot in the door then they will make money.. but for people like us doing a bit of everything then not so much..

Yeah agree

The only reason I have done boxing is because i am in a fortunate position with some leading british boxers and get paid to cover the events for them on behalf of one of there sponsors

Can't say March is my busiest month - that usually falls to August/September time for me..
Still - a decent March ahead of me.. starting with 12 days assignment to Cyprus, then back home and games in Newcastle and Glasgow to follow during the weekend, back home, couple of mid-week jobs closer to home, then weekend job in Slovenia, before Women's Champions League in Birmingham, mid-week assignment in Romania, before a Volleyball Euro Cup Final in Paris and ending the month in Glasgow with a Basketball Cup Final..

But as KIPAX knows - my images just aren't good enough for UK papers, so I need to keep working for International clients who seem more happy with the quality of my work.

And by the way, covering football in March in Cyprus is a whole lot nicer than it normally is in the UK.. 8 hours in the sunshine in shorts and t-shirt today :-)

What sports keep you busy in August?

well spook (googabu) wil have a different answer from me and I know that for sure...but for myself it's cricket.. saturday and sunday ... plus august is good for football tournaments... but unless you can find one midweek then its pretty much all cricket.....

What sports keep you busy in August?

More work than I do - tournaments in Ukraine, Serbia, warm-up games for World Championships in Volleyball/Basketball these are short two-three day tournaments around Europe.
Women's football.. pre-season for the British Basketball..
And then of course in September all the World Championships/World Cups to photograph...
It's a crazy of Sports Photography world across the Channel.. so many great sports to cover ;-) (which also get good usage in major papers over there!)

And yes KIPAX - your answer to mine would be very different. Your jobs are with-in 20 miles of home.. for me, that's the drive to the airport before I even start my journey to my games...
