I've got some macro bits I'm having some fun with (55-300 with makro tubes and a sigma 17-70mm macro) but I've already hit the problem of limited light availability. I've got a D3100 with an sb400 which is only a small short flash unit.
The cheapest option would be to buy a ttl cable and hold the flash or stick it on a cheap tripod.
I've also seen those ring lights (not flashes) that fit on the end of the lens.
Or should I upgrade my flash and make a softbox or something else?
What do others use a how portable is your setup?
