So, I use a Nikon D810, and a Sigma 150 f2.8 macro lens to do most of my images. Currently for the small macro work I am setting the camera up on a tripod settings tend to be ISO64, F stop around 25, anywhere between 1/2 sec and 5 seconds depending on light and using manual focus adjustment to step through the focus range front to back with Mirror Up and a remote release. finished image below - however I am wondering about the use of a macro rail and using that to step through the subject. In photoshop i can align the images and then stack them. I always crop if only very slightly so as to ensure I get the overall image i am looking for.

So the question is carry on as it works - or get a rail and will I see any benefit ?

Thoughts, benefits - personal preferences? :)
