A few of questions on macro ring flashes:

1. Is there a big difference in quality between Sigma and Canon ring flashes?

2. If ring flash is the best way to take close up shots, is there any point in looking at an IS lens as opposed to non IS for this type of work?

3. Do ring flashes work the same when it comes to maximum sync speed?

1. I've got a Sigma and reckon it works as well as a Canon but is possibly not quite as well constructed.

2. Depends what you're shooting. If it's likely to move then IS is not going to help. If you're shooting still life then IS will be useful.

3. I'm fairly certain they do.

2. The flash will freeze the subject so the IS only really comes into its own when using natural light.

3. The mt-24 does.
