to all macro photographers here, has anybody compared the effect of teleconverter lens, reverse lens kits and macro extension tubes among each other? i see a lot of great macro shots here but after doing some research i find the extension tubes more versatile as you should be able to use it for any lens despite the variety in filter thread size, i don't own one myself, i have the teleconverter lens that i use on my 18-55 which is only useful for 18-55, from what i've read regarding reverse lens kits, it seems to also be limited to only lens with the same size filter thread, so far, i'm leaning towards the macro extension tubes but have never seen image samples yet, so if anyone has ever tried comparing these accessories, would love to hear from you....

Ive got some extension tubes coming this week, along with +10 close filter for my 85mm and a set of +1,+2,+4,+10 in 62mm so will do a compare for you.

From what I have been reading, the tubes are much better as there isnt another glass layer so pictures remain as sharp as the original lens fitted.

I will be doing my test on the 85mm +10 vs 85mm without filter, then my tamron 70-300mm with closeups, without extension tubes and with. I'll probably keep the tomron at 200mm for optimum focus (I believe that might be the sweet spot on those lenses)

Hopefully that'll help some people as these are questions I want to ask. Since the options are pretty cheap (compared to a dedicated macro lens) it might be a handy thread. :)

Should have something up this weekend if not sooner.

I havent got the reverse rings so perhaps someone can do some comparisons on that.

For detail, Im thinking a coin, one pound coin as it has a lot of detail and is quite small. Will post as soon as I can.
